Jason Howell has an MBA from Texas A&M University, is a Certified Recovery Support Specialist and trainer, and has a passion for peer-delivered recovery services. In 2008, he opened his first recovery residence, the only gay men’s home in Texas, and at one time, oversaw as many as 13 recover residences with a total capacity of over 120 beds. Mr. Howell helped found and is currently, the Executive Director of SoberHood, a 501c3 nonprofit lowering the cost of addiction while improving the health and well-being of lives and communities via recovery support, awareness and community building. Under this mission, Jason helped found and is a Charter Board Member of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) in 2011 and created its regional affiliate, the Texas Recovery Oriented Housing Network (TROHN) with local coalitions in Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston. He can often be found advocating for fair housing rights at the local, state and national level. He is also a co-author of the Primer on Recovery Residences, a producer of the podcast, RecoveryPeople, and is very active in the Texas’ recovery-oriented systems of care movement.
